When I walked along Moraine Lake in Canada during, the sheer scale of the mountains paired with the absolute stillness of the water completely stopped me in my tracks. These two companion pieces are my way of bringing that exact feeling home. 'Silent Heights I & II' look at how steep mountain slopes meet a deep, calm lake. I used a restrained, grounded palette of blues, greens, ochre, and rusty red, along with a few hidden touches of gold metal leaf to catch the light. If you look closely, you will see the pencil and pastel lines weaving through the acrylic layers, mapping out the shape of the peaks. They are designed to give any room a genuine sense of quiet and safety.
